Our Mission

NASA Student Launch

NASA Student Launch is a competition that challenges high school and university-level students to design, build and fly a reusable rocket with a scientific or engineering payload to a target altitude of 5,280 feet. The project engages students in scientific research and real-world engineering processes with NASA engineers.

This year’s competition will begin in September 2018 with the submission of the report and will conclude in early April 2019 with the final competition launch in Huntsville, AL. Teams are scored based on their ability to reach the target altitude, the overall design and effectiveness of their payloads, and the design reports and presentations given to NASA representatives throughout the project.

Educational Outreach

Every year our members travel to our individual home towns, local schools around State College, and even our own campus to educate hundreds of students about rocketry, engineering, and college. These outreach events are opportunities for us to give back to the communities that helped us get where we are today and to encourage aspiring students to continue their education, maybe even in the STEM field.
